Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Evidence-based, individualized therapy helping children ages 0–21 develop the skills they need to thrive in every area of life.
Understanding OT
What Is Occupational Therapy?
For children, "occupation" means everything they need to do in daily life — playing, learning, eating, dressing, socializing, and exploring their world. Occupational therapy helps children build the motor, sensory, cognitive, and emotional skills needed to participate fully and confidently.
At Dom the OT, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our individualized, evidence-based approach meets each child exactly where they are — and helps them grow at their own pace.
Areas of Growth
How OT Can Help Your Child
We address the foundational skills children need to participate in everyday activities with confidence and independence. Examples of skills we may work on include, but are not limited to:
Gross Motor Skills
Developing strength, coordination, and movement skills needed for crawling, walking, jumping, and active play.
Hygiene & Daily Life Skills
Building independence in self-care routines like dressing, grooming, feeding, and personal hygiene.
Fine Motor Skills
Strengthening the small muscles needed for writing, cutting, buttoning, manipulating objects, and classroom tasks.
Sensory Processing
Helping children regulate sensory input to improve attention, behavior, emotional regulation, and participation.
Our Approach
How We Work With Families
Family Centered Support
We work with the whole family — not just the child. Caregiver coaching empowers parents to carry progress forward in everyday life.
Early Intervention
Early services can make all the difference. We provide timely support for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and special needs.
Caregiver Coaching
Teaching caregivers strategies and techniques they can use at home, at school, and in the community to support their child's growth.
Specialized Approaches
Evidence-Based Methods
Dominique draws from a range of specialized, evidence-based therapy approaches tailored to each child's unique needs.
Infant Massage
Benefits: Promotes bonding, body awareness, relaxation, and positive sensory experiences while supporting an infant’s developing ability to interact with their environment.
In My Practice: I incorporate gentle, developmentally appropriate massage techniques and caregiver education to support sensory regulation, body awareness, calming routines, and positive caregiver-child interaction.
Primitive Reflex Integration
Benefits: Supports foundational motor patterns by addressing retained primitive reflexes that may interfere with coordination, balance, posture, body awareness, and motor planning.
In My Practice: I incorporate reflex-based movements into therapeutic play and functional activities to support postural control, bilateral coordination, motor planning, and participation.
Rhythmic Movement Therapy
Benefits: Uses rhythmic, repetitive movements to support body awareness, coordination, balance, motor planning, attention, and regulation.
In My Practice: I incorporate rhythmic movement patterns into therapeutic activities to build foundational motor skills, bilateral coordination, postural control, sensory regulation, and readiness for learning.
Trauma-Informed Care
Benefits: Creates a safe, predictable, and respectful environment that considers how stress and past experiences can affect regulation, behavior, relationships, and participation.
In My Practice: I prioritize emotional and physical safety, predictable routines, choice, connection, and child-led participation while adapting activities to each child’s needs and responses.
Zones of Regulation
Benefits: Teaches children to recognize emotions and body cues, understand their level of regulation, and develop strategies to manage their responses.
In My Practice: I help children identify emotions and regulation states and practice individualized coping strategies through play, movement, visual supports, transitions, and real-life social situations.
Handwriting Without Tears
Benefits: Provides a structured, multisensory approach to handwriting readiness, letter formation, pencil control, visual-motor skills, and fine motor coordination.
In My Practice: I use developmentally appropriate activities, manipulatives, and structured instruction to build pre-writing and handwriting skills while addressing grasp, fine motor control, and visual-motor integration.
ASD Clinical Specialist
Benefits: Provides specialized knowledge for supporting autistic children with sensory processing, communication, social participation, emotional regulation, motor development, and daily living skills.
In My Practice: I use an individualized, neurodiversity-affirming approach that considers each child’s communication style, sensory needs, strengths, interests, and developmental profile.
